Kessalyn's Coming! (Part 4)

9:30 am Saturday morning:

The midwife on call changed at 8:00 this morning; we're now working with Claudia. While Tianna's still having contractions every 2-3 minutes, she's been dilated to 4cm since 4:00 this morning and hasn't really been progressing. We decided to have the midwife strip the membranes (essentially, run her finger around the edge of the amniotic sac), which will stimulate a release of Oxytocin, which is the hormone that your body uses to induce labor.

We're hoping that will help her move things along. If we're not seeing any more progress after a couple hours, we may put Tianna on Pitocin (an artificial version of Oxytocin).

For now, Tianna's just relaxing. She got 3-4 hours of sleep last night, but was waking up every hour, so she's happy to get sleep while she can. We expect that when she starts going into more active labor, she won't be able to sleep as easily. For now, though, things are pretty quiet here.
