Apricots and Indians

We went and looked at three Riverton houses yesterday.  Of the three, it was quickly narrowed down to just one (though we still want to look at others first).  It's a quaint house and I rather like it.  It has some definite flaws (no bathroom on the main level, no pantry, no exclusive master bath) but many other definite plusses (TONS of storage, lots of recently upgraded expensive stuff (new swamp cooler, updated furnace, etc), huge yard, etc.).  One of the plusses are the 3 fruit trees in the back.  Which led to the following pillow talk last night:

Tianna: I'm so excited for the fruit trees.  But I wish it were a peach tree instead of an apricot tree.  What am I going to do with all those apricots?  I still have apricot jam from when Sanna gave me a couple of bags of apricots last year!  I guess we'd move in just in time to harvest and make tons of jam, then go around and give it to all of the neighbors.  With a loaf of homemade bread?  As a … welcome to my new neighborhood gift?

BJ: It'd be just like welcoming the Indians to Jamestown!

That later led to a discussion about using an extension cord to get a popcorn popper up in the tree so that we really and truly could have popcorn popping in the apricot tree.

Last night was one of those nights for pillow talk.  We got laughing so hard that BJ stole my heated rice bag (that I was using on some sore muscles) and put it on his face, "Because my face hurts; I'm smiling too hard."

You could always make Apricot Juice. We had 4 Apricot trees growing up and Apricot juice is one of my favorites. Good luck, I hope it all works out well for you.

Were there still blossoms on the trees? We have an apricot tree and half of the blossoms all died after a frost like a month ago. And then, when it snowed a week ago, the rest of them died too.

It looks like this will be our second year with no apricots.

BUT, the pear trees are covered in flowers right now, and so are the plums, and the apples won't be until later, so we probably just lost the apricots this year.

Unlike last year, in which we got no fruit from our trees at all.

Can I just tell you how excited I am about the idea that you might live in Riverton?? You would live like 5 minutes away from me! That would be fun.
